What is an inverted dawn?

  • An inverted dawn is a time in which sunrise occurs in the early hours of the evening. It’s an indication that the entire world has turned upside down. Nothing can be taken for what it seems to be. Everything just seems wrong. An inverted dawn reflects the ways in which mental health struggles often turn the life of the person struggling entirely upside down. As insomnia, nightmares, and general sleeplessness are often symptoms of major mental health concerns, it is not uncommon for those suffering to report that their days, and entire lives no longer resemble anything that they remember, as they are awake at the wrong hours of the day.

  • Inverted Dawn Counseling and Consulting was founded in January 2022 in response to the shortage of therapists available to treat the epidemic of youth suicide that had developed in the later years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today we offer services to youth and families in need, as well as trauma based therapies for adult patients. At Inverted Dawn our goal is to help people survive the hardest part of their journey. We strive to bring people to a more sustainable place through entering the their journey with them, in the understanding that a mental illness can prevent even the basic the most basic parts of life from keeping us connected to the world.
